Andrew has just returned from 6 months sabbatical in Oxford where he worked at the Big Data Institute where they have successfully used machine and deep learning to recognise activities in adults using data from wrist accelerometers and used the derived models to quantitatively determine the impact of physical exercise on heart disease in the UK. He arrived in the UK armed with the thigh accelerometer data of 40 children who had each spent an hour going through a series of activities.

This presentation will chart Andrews journey to derive a series of models that can be used to successfully identify children's activities from accelerometer data.
