Professor Victor Calo holds the CSIRO Professorial Chair in Computational Geoscience.  He is a highly cited researcher, holding two patents.
Victor believes that powerful algorithmic techniques and abstractions can be made robust and simple enough for non-experts to use them and profit from them. the technologies he develops simplify the use of state-of-the-art techniques for high-performance computing.  These methods can model geological processes that are relevant to the resource extraction industry while capturing the multiphysics and multiscale aspects of these processes at a reasonable cost and accuracy.
Prof Calo is currently within the Western Australian School of Mines in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Curtin University.  Victor is a Chief Investigator in Research Theme Three.
