Tuesday 30 April 2019

The Industrial Transformation Training Centre scheme is funded by the federal government through the Australian Research Council (ARC). The purpose is to foster close partnerships between university-based/CSIRO researchers and industry and provide innovative Higher Degrees by Research and postdoctoral training.

To achieve this the ARC provides funding, matched by industry and government, of up for four or five years to $1 million per year

Together with our industry partners this Centre is funded with $8.9M to support the development for twelve PhD students and the employment of four postdoctoral fellows

Why #

Since March 2009, there has been over A$500 bn of capital invested into mining and oil and gas assets in Australia. This construction phase is largely over and industry is focussed on operating and maintaining the new facilities. In 2016 – 17 these assets produced A$205 billion of export earnings. The export earnings are dependent on the reliable operation of these assets.

The aim of new centre will equip engineers and graduates with data analytics skills to better manage the vast and expensive array of assets owned by mining and energy operators around the country.
