Hoa Bui is an applied mathematician. Her major fields are variational analysis and non-smooth and non-convex optimisation. Besides optimisation, she is also working on combinatorial graphs theory and convex analysis. Her main target is to improve cutting-edge algorithms in solving big-data optimisation problems.

She obtained her B.Sc. (in Mathematics) from Ho Chi Minh city, University of Pedagogy, Vietnam in 2016. Soon after her graduation, she came to Australia to pursue her higher education in Mathematics at Federation University.

She is now a research fellow at Curtin University representing Research Theme 3 at the Centre for Transforming Maintenance Through Data Science.

Hoa is currently researching techniques to model and optimise maintenance schedules and to schedule preventive maintenance regimes.

Hoa is co-supervising PhD candidates Yingying Yang, Sandy Spiers and Ponpot Jartnillaphand
